This PLI report illustrates the confectionery production process, with a specific focus on chocolate. It explains each stage in detail to provide an understanding of the production process and the opportunities that exist. Key customer challenges, major product groups, typical maintenance and improvement projects are identified throughout the production line and potential areas of commercial opportunity for the distributor are highlighted. The potential for distributors within the confectionery industry sector, both MRO and OEM, is significant, with an estimated ‘scale of opportunity value’ (SOV) of 100m€ available to the aftermarket. The final section proposes how the document could be used and provides open-ended questions that can be asked of prospective and actual customers in order to reinforce the knowledge gained in parts one and two and to maximise the available opportunities.
