Industry barometer
The Trend Data Survey (TDS) is the EPTDA's very own barometer to drive well-informed business decisions and strategy in a constantly changing market environment.
Launched in 2009 on the initiative of the Know Your Market Committee, the EPTDA Trend Data Survey has proved successful, as reflected in the ever-rising participation rate and growing interest of members to participate actively. It has now become a valuable tool that members can implement in their own business, and access for free.
The TDS in its current format focuses on four carefully selected key indicators – sales, gross margin, employment and inventory. Nevertheless, the Know Your Market Committee devotes particular attention to constantly improving the survey and adapting it to changing expectations. The results released to members also include country reports.
In order to make these reports even more accurate and comprehensive, EPTDA strongly encourages ALL its Members to contribute, and benefit from reliable information, in addition to being rewarded for their participation.

EPTDA members can grab additional tangible benefits by contributing a mere share of their time filling in the EPTDA surveys:
- EPTDA Distributors must participate in the 3 Trend Data Survey reports of the 2011 series and 2011 Benchmark Analysis;
- EPTDA Manufacturers must participate in the 3 reports of the 2011 series to benefit from the incentive.
THE SURVEY
EPTDA’s in-house Trend Data Survey was designed as a short, user-friendly, yet highly secured online questionnaire. Conducted fully and exclusively by EPTDA, for EPTDA members, the TDS runs every four months:
- in May, on performances from January to April;
- in September, on performances from May to August; and
- in January of the following year, on performances from past September to December.
Resulting reports are released free of charge to distributor and manufacturer members within the month following the survey.
