Background

In an effort to providing EPTDA Members with valuable, accurate tools for their business, the Know Your Market (KYM) Committee developed a "balanced scorecard" for distribution in Europe - the ‘Distribution Flight Deck'.

EPTDA's Distribution Flight Deck is a tool to steer your own company based on major key performance indicators (KPI). The members of the KYM Committee have carefully selected the most relevant "factors of success", adapted to the nature of the technical distribution business.

By tailoring the flight deck to the strategic goals of their company, technical distributors can measure their competitiveness and run their business more effectively.

The Flight Deck in its current form comes as a project proposal by the Know Your Market Committee. It encompasses the most important aspects of running a business in the distribution industry.

The structure of the flight deck includes four perspectives:

  • customer/market
  • processes
  • finances
  • growth/development

The Flight Deck also addresses the problematic of ‘what can not be measured, can not be managed' - with the support of the Flight Deck, you can now "make your strategy measurable!"
